Ricky Jackson's former Saints challenger and pro football hall had a successful surgical procedure at a New Orleans hospital Wednesday morning and were recovering, former Saints coach Dean Kleinschmidt said Wednesday afternoon.
"Everything went well as expected, and Ricky has no surgery and does not recover," Kleinschmidt said, passing on a message from Jackson's daughter Rickeyah, who was in her unidentified hospital with her father.
"Rickeyah truly wanted to thank fans and friends for their prayers and support, and has asked everyone to respect the family's privacy at the time," said Kleinschmidt, who was with the Saints from 1981 to 1993 during Jackson's entire career ,

Kleischmidt gave no details on Jackson's procedure or stated why Jackson needed surgery.
Through his Twitter account, former Los Angeles Rams striker and fellow Hall of Famer, Eric Dickerson, demanded "Prayers for my good friend Ricky (sic) Jackson (the), who has to undergo brain surgery this morning. Ricky (sic) will overcome these adversities and win. "
Rickey Jackson, the first Pro Football Hall of Fame player whose NFL career was spent primarily at the New Orleans Saints, underwent brain surgery on Wednesday.
Hall of Fame back Eric Dickerson was the first to draw attention to Jackson's operation. Then Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune confirmed that Jackson underwent brain surgery on Wednesday in New Orleans. Former Saints coach Dean Kleinschmidt told Duncan about Jackson's operation, but gave no further details. Jackson turned 60 in March.
Dickerson sent his benevolent wishes to fellow players at the Hall of Famer.
Respectfully ask for prayers for my good friend @ProFootballHOF Ricky Jackson from the @Saints. He has a brain operation this morning. Ricky will overcome these adversities and prevail. We declare this victory in God's name. Bless my brother!

Jackson was a member of one of the best linebacking corps in NFL history, the "Dome Patrol" in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The unit of Pat Swilling, Sam Mills, Vaughan Johnson and Jackson made the Pro Bowl in 1992, a notable achievement for four teammates, all playing the same position.
That was one of six Pro Bowls for Jackson. Jackson spent the last two years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers and was a starter for the 1994 Super Bowl Championship 49ers team.
According to Duncan, Jackson was also operated for prostate cancer in 2015.
