One of the two greatest saints in franchise history has experienced a setback, but is already on the road to recovery.
Rickey Jackson underwent a one-hour operation at Tulane Medical Center this morning to relieve pressure on his brain, and he relaxes comfortably.
Rickeyah Jackson, Rickey's daughter, was present with him before being operated on, and stays with him in the postoperative intensive care unit.
"The procedure was a success," said Rickeyah. "He relaxes comfortably, is very awake and talks like he does to nurses, doctors and his environment. I want to emphasize that he is fine and that all reports are simply not accurate otherwise. "
Jackson recently had a fall and hit his head, resulting in a subdural hematoma. The surgery blew and relieved his brain.

"One thing went from autumn to another," said Rickeyah. "He's not going around yet, but he's fine. We are told that we should have him back home in a few days. They had to drain it and relieve the pressure. The doctors said it was a routine procedure to make it easier. Regardless of what others say or think, it has nothing to do with football or its cancer. "
Jackson underwent a prostatectomy in 2015 and remains cancer-free. He started an annual prostate screening weekend for former NFL players titled "Man Up! Geaux Get Screened "in 2016. The third annual event was last held on September 8 at the Tulane Medical Center.
Jackson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. He was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 1997, the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and was a founding member of the Saints Ring of Pahokee, FL, part of the famous Dome Patrol of the Saints in 2013 NFL Network voted Best Linebacker Corps in NFL History. At 128, Jackson is the leading sack leader in the history of Saints. He was a Pro Bowl player at New Orleans six times and won a Super Bowl in 1994 with San Francisco.
Jackson had a serious car accident in the 1989 season and missed only two games after undergoing a plastic surgery. His jaw was closed, and he had a special helmet so he could play again.
"My father is a wonderful, loving man and he is a tough man," said Rickeyah. "He has been through a lot and will be fine. He jokes with us. He speaks well. He's keen. People who know dad and are close to him know he's hot. I want to let everyone know that. I can assure you that he is fine. I have always been with him and sit next to him. "
